Research is needed to keep an industry alive and grow. Research helps us to glimpse into the past, present and future of that industry. Research on khadi is very much necessary. If we want to take the khadi industry forward then we must determine the existing challenges and opportunities of this industry which can only be possible through a well-planned research. Take Muslin for example. Through successful research, we were able to recover Muslin, which was considered extinct. Similarly, we have to find out the problems of the khadi industry and chart out a course of action to solve those problems. We have to talk about the difference between hand-woven khadi and machine made khadi. We have to show the difference to everyone. Through research we will be able to determine the issues needs to be addressed in order to restore khadi to its former glory. However, government assistance is required for this activity. If the government takes necessary steps in this regard then we shall be able to unearth many new information about khadi. Not just khadi but each and every Bangladeshi handicraft product requires such undertakings. By developing our daily necessities using local resources, we have to discourage business people and traders to import from other countries. Only then is it possible for the country’s economy to prosper rapidly.
